Clay Stephens “For me, art is a journey that began when I was old enough to hold a crayon. I have studied many aspects of artistic interpretation but most recently, I am exploring acrylic on canvas with recalled landscape and Earth formation images. I also enjoy working with the figure as an inspiration. I work intuitively and like the process of discovery and exploration!”

Clay Stephens is a contemporary abstract expressionist painter working primarily in acrylic on canvas and mixed media on paper and canvas.

Clay is experienced in, and has worked in, many media including oil, watercolor, batik, charcoal, pastel, pottery, acrylic and sculpture. However, for the past several years he has experimented with organic and figurative works executed with acrylic on canvas and paper. These works convey a sense of movement, energy and passion with a colorist approach.

Award winning works by Clay have been part of many exhibits and juried shows. His paintings are part of corporate and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.
